The British Prime Minister, David Cameron, recently gave a speech criticizing how the UK and Europe have handled multiculturalism within their countries. According to Cameron, England and Europe have recently become a haven for Islamic Extremists plotting terrorist attacks. He believes that England's "Multicultural Policy", which allows immigrants to continue their cultural practices in their own communities, has encouraged separation between ethnic groups instead of creating a more unified multicultural England. This separation, says Cameron, is why certain terrorist groups have been able to operate within England. The Prime Minister went on to say that England will now be much stricter with ethnic communities he believes are creating future terrorists.
Obviously, this speech has roused some controversy. Muslim groups are complaining that the Prime Minister's speech was racist and that it will only create more paranoia and fear of Muslims. While the Prime Minister claims that he seeks to welcome English Muslims into the greater English culture, many feel that his speech will only make Muslims less interested in identifying themselves with the country.
