Illegal Immigrant Students

Article here

Pictured above is Maricela Aguilar--honors student, cross country captain and student of Marquette University (a real good college, just to add). She's also an illegal immigrant, having been born in Mexico and came into the US when she was three years old.

A recent legislation proposal was rejected by the Senate after being passed in the House of Representatives that would allow students like her to become legal residents. While the legislation was still in the system, students like Maricela had revealed the truths of their undocumented status. Now that the legislation was rejected, there's fear. The article states that immigration agents were instructed to try their bests to ignore students and aim for illegal immigrants who have a criminal record. Still, students are easy to catch. Right now, colleges all over the country (particularly in the southern states) are opting to ban all undocumented students from enrolling in their schools (as some might put it, prevent them from replacing American students).

The thing is, even if a student manages to pass, due to their undocumented status they are unable to aim for jobs that suit their science, social sciences, etc. etc. degrees, and have to settle for menial jobs.

Everyone has their own opinions about illegal immigration. However, these students have worked their way through hardships, managing to enroll in good colleges and simultaneously pay staggering tuition costs without financial aid. It's terrible to even suggest to take all of that away.
